Disneyland Paris, Main Street USA

After years of visiting Disney parks around the world, I finally made it to Disneyland Paris! I was really looking forward to this day of our trip, as was Nattie, our Ears of Experience ‘Kid Expert’. Armed with a camera, an empty memory card, and a full day ahead of us, we set out to enjoy the park.
When we arrived at the Disneyland Paris train stop, the park entrance was was only a short walk from the station. As you exit the station, you will see Disney Village on your left, Disney Studios straight ahead and the Disneyland  Hotel to the right. The park entrance is under the Disneyland Hotel. We got there at 9am and the gates

opened at 9:30, but only to Main Street USA and up to the castle. The rest of the park opened at 10am. This was good, because it gave us some time to look around Main Street before it got crowded.

The park is set up much like other Disney parks, with the different ‘lands’ set in a circle around Main Street and the castle. Clockwise from the left are Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Discoveryland.

Main Street USA goes from the park entrance at Town Square out to the Central Plaza by Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. In the Town Square, you will find City Hall, which has information, brochures, and booking for restaurants and activities. Across the plaza is Main Street Vehicles, where you can get wheelchairs and strollers. Also, when you entered the park, you walked right under Main Street Station for the Disneyland Railroad.

The rest of Main Street is similar to other Disney parks, with various shops lining each side of the street. One difference, though, are the two arcades along the backs of the shops. These are open walkways that extend along the entire back side of the shops and provide a shortcut to the other end of Main Street as well as entrances to the shops.

Liberty Arcade details the conception, inauguration, and legacy of the Statue of Liberty, while Discovery Arcade is dedicated to the great inventors and visionaries of the early twentieth century and is lined with artwork and inventions. If you’re exiting the park after one of the

crowded nighttime shows or trying to avoid crowds waiting for a daytime parade on the streets, these arcades are a helpful shortcut along the length of Main Street.

At the end of Main Street is Central Plaza, where shows take place on an elevated stage in front of the castle.
